Abstract

The purpose of this article is to reflect on the importance of music for ESL and EFL learners in improving listening skills, overcoming difficulties in English pronunciation, and finding solutions to many such problems. When children learn English through music, they spend a lot of time listening to American songs instead of doing anything else. This raises two questions. What effect do such songs have on the minds of ESL learners? Can music improve second language acquisition in general, and specifically a student’s reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills? In this article made a connection between these literacy skills and music. Moreover, an attempt is made to elucidate numerous linguistic hypotheses that can serve as a scientific basis for a song-oriented approach, reinforce the attempt with examples, and end up with copious practical applications.
