Abstract
The paper deals with the main historical events of the nineteenth century Scotland and the USA and their link with the evolution of Scottish emigration poetry. Historical background had formed the social and cultural context of Scottish emigration poetry. It is analysed in works of H. Ainslie, D.C. MacCallum and W. Wilson.
