GENDER DIFFERENCES IN POLITENESS: ANALYSIS OF JAPANESE AND ENGLISH

Abstract
This study examines the differences in gender-specific expressions of politeness in Japanese and English cultures. Through an analysis of linguistic features and cultural norms, we explore how women and men demonstrate politeness in social interactions and communication. Drawing on examples from literature, this study highlights the nuanced ways in which gender roles influence expressions of politeness in Japanese and English-speaking societies.
