Abstract
In this article, Dreiser's novel "Sister Carrie" explores the origins of social relations in society, the influence of social relations between people on the formation of a person's personality and personality. The study shows how the main female character of the novel learns to interact in a particular social group and environment, how successfully she selects, uses and controls appropriate methods to appear acceptable and pleasant.
